Heaven

We know that Jesus has gone to prepare a place (Heaven) for us.
John 14:2, 3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Only the righteous will enter into Heaven.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The trials that trouble us on this earth will not exist in Heaven.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Heaven is a place of rest; There will be no more fighting against this world for the truth, no more struggling with the cares of the world, no more war, no more racism, no more abuse, no more sin...
Hebrews 4:9-11 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

All those that make it to Heaven will receive a crown of righteousness from the Lord.
2 Timothy 4:7, 8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Heaven will be forever. It's like that song, Amazing Grace... I think it goes like this: "When we've been there 10,000 years...we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we first begun.".. (I hope that doesn't break any copyright laws... oops)
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Heaven can be ours if we overcome the sinfulness of this world.
Revelation 3:5, 21 (5)He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. (21)To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

The last day will truly be a great one for those that obey Him.
Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

In summary, those in Heaven will be: wearing a crown(2 Tim. 4:7, 8) and resting(Heb. 4:9-11) in peace(Rev. 21:4) with the righteous(Mat. 7:21) forever(Rom. 6:23).

Be faithful until death and Heaven will be yours.
Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

I agree with you as well... lol well at least I think I do. I agree with everything you wrote at least.

I believe all those things about heaven, plus I believe it's a gift, not a reward. I don't believe it's something we can ever be worthy of... we can only find worthiness by relying on Jesus to be the bridge between us and God.

Agree? disagree?

Just one thing, Don't we give our crowns to God, therefore, giving him the glory?

Nicholas,

I think this was a much needed switch. It is necessary to point out dangers along the way; like lying, dancing, etc. However, there is a need to know the good things as well, like what will happen if we live a faithful life and the joys of living that life.

Keep up the good work. I'm sorry that I haven't commented much lately, but things have really been busy with me as far as school and work. I don't have a lot of time to just sit and comment, but I check the updates and try to keep up with what's being talked about.

crescendo_of_ambiguity,

"Rejoice, and be glad, for your REWARD is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:12)

Dictionary.com defines "reward" as: "Something given or received in recompense for worthy behavior"  which is exactly what we will recieve. It is a gift...but a gift given BECAUSE we have doine the will of our Father who resides in Heaven. WORTHY behavior....righteous behavior if you will. God expects us to follow His will and we will be rewarded...He will give us this gift IF we obey His commands. Which we can not know unless we study His will....which is the purpose of this site.

Matt_frazier,

"Henceforth there is laiid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:8)

"Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life." -ASV 1901

Rachael (crescendo_of_ambiguity),
I have to disagree with you.

Heaven is a reward.
Luke 6:23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Matt (Matt_frazier),
God will still get the glory... God gives us the crown, why would we not glory Him for that?

2 Timothy 4:7,8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

I can't even imagine how wonderful heaven is going to be. I just know I can't wait to get there.

Hmm, I have a few article ideas...

By the way, I didn't finish the book, but I got super close to the end. It's just great. It's making me think more into things I never really considered.

Kristen (x_brightlywound),
I pray that I am also with the few.
Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
